The site

The Longfield site is located on Killicks, in Cranleigh and was formerly occupied by the predominantly 3-storey, 39-bedroom, Longfield Resource Centre, a residential care home. The site benefits from an attractive, secluded position, screened by mature trees which help to create an attractive amenity space outside the building.

Access to the site was via the entrance from Killicks at the north-eastern corner of the site boundary. There was also a pedestrian access at the south-western corner leading to the public open space to the east of Kiln Copse and linking to the footpath between the open space and Summerlands.

Longfield Resource Centre has been closed since 2016 and is scheduled for demolition by the end of 2026. Below are some photographs of how the building currently appears, pre-demolition.

... and the surrounding area

The site is surrounded on three sides by residential properties and on the fourth by a public open space. The area is predominantly residential in nature with mid- to late-20th century 2-storey detached houses to the south, 3-storey apartments to the east and a terrace of 2-storey houses to the north; clad in red brick with clay tiles. Below is a selection of photographs that show the context of the site.

Local amenities

Cranleigh offers good local shopping and leisure facilities. The site is within easy walking distance of Cranleigh High Street. Local buses stop in Ewhurst Road, with services to Horsham, Guildford and Ewhurst. Horsham and Guildford both offer regular Soutwestern and Southern rail services to London Victoria/London Waterloo, and connections to the south and south-west coast.

This new development will offer its residents the opportunity to become part of the vibrant, thriving and connected local community in Cranleigh Village.
